YES, finally, I got my Electric Salt and Pepper mills!

Well, after years of wanting a decent pepper mill, Costco had a set on sale that I finally bought. It is a pair, pepper and salt mills both. It was $50 for the set but they are on sale for $40 for the set. Comes with first load of pepper and salt. Wow, does the salt that comes with them taste great! They are ELECTRIC and take SIX AAA batteries each. Dang, 12 batteries, just like that! No switch to push, it is a gravity switch, tilt it upside down and the motor grinds your salt or pepper. Can adjust the coarseness of the grind with a nice knob on top.

Time to put my manual crank grinder pepper mill away finally!

Trudeau Elite Graviti Salt and Pepper Mill Set - Item# 541149

http://video.costco.com/v/10960/541149-trudeau-graviti-salt-and-pepper-set-kitchen/

That is a link to their demo. They are already sold out at Costco.com. Looks like I'm not the only one wanting a set. LOL

Buckyballs - ah, what a time taker!

Well, I gave a set of gold and a set of black Buckyballs to to one of my employees a couple nights ago, told him how expensive they were, so he had to stop at Fred Meyer and look. He told me yesterday, Wow, they want $38 per color for them. Yes. Expensive toy. At Buckyball's website they have them for $29.95 + $5.95 for shipping, and if you buy two sets of them they will ship them free. So, from Buckyball's themselves you can get two sets for $60 instead of the $78 Fred Meyer wants. http://www.getbuckyballs.com/ is their website URL.

Jason said he went home after work the night I gave them to him and he said he sat down and played with them a few minutes and looked at the clock and THREE AND A HALF HOURS had gone by. LOL He said Jennifer (his wife) got frustrated playing with the second set of them, they wouldn't do what she wanted them to do. Hehehe.

I know I enjoy picking them up and playing with them. Make all kinds of designs with them. What a new toy I have to play with. So do Jennifer and Jason. Dumb Boss, always giving them things.

Thanksgiving Day has came and gone...

One of my employee's and his wife came by and seen me on Wednesday at 10pm and handed me a bag with a 5.6 pound Prime Rib roast in it, complete with spuds, chicken dressing, (chicken dressing with Prime Rib? What am I missing with that? LOL) a can of corn. Just the rib, pigging out on it lasted for five nice meals. Thanks guys! It has been YEARS since I had a Rib.

To top it off, the roof started leaking at the shop and the roofing people won't be over to look at it until Tuesday or Wednesday to see what they are going to do with it.

Jason and I have talked about that problem several times over the years and the BEST way to fix it would be put a 5/1 metal roof over the flat leaking tar one. Put the high part on the West side and could lay a foot or more insulation on the flat roof before putting the stringers up and screwing the metal on. Kill two birds with one stone. Could surely do it cheaper than putting on a new flat tar roof. I've been there over thirty-two years and that flat roof has had so many thousands of dollars spent on it in that length of time. Hello??? Anyone home??? This is Oregon. Flat roofs don't work here worth a dang.

If they would put a sloped metal roof with eight half joists it could be insulated to R-40 or higher and NO MORE LEAKS. Use white metal roofing, which will lower the temperature by a large sum. I remember when I re-roofed my house, replacing a black three tab roof with a white three tab roof. Pulling down the attic door at Noon and shooting both sides of the peak with the IR thermometer opened my eyes. The WHITE half was on the East side, so it had been heating up in the Sun all morning and the BLACK side was the West side and the Sun hadn't been shining on it very long at Noon. Even being white, it should have been MUCH hotter than the black side since it had had sun shining on it all morning.

I thought something was wrong, so done the same test several days in a row at different times of the day. NOPE. The temperature of the white roofed side on the bottom side, radiating heat into the attic was over THIRTY DEGREES cooler than the side of the roof covered in black.

Yet I see nine out of ten putting on a black or dark roof when they re-roof. It takes away YEARS of life from the roof when they use a darker color and dumps all that extra heat into the attic on top of that. How stupid is that? I'll stick with white roofs, thank you.

FREE

101010 0001

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people and businesses who do NOT know what FREE means.

Do YOU? What do YOU think FREE means?

FREE means FREE. NO NOTHING NEEDED IN RETURN.

For example, a blurb about getting some FREE Advil.

______________________________________________

To get your coupon please provide us with the following information. To learn more about our use of your information and your rights, please consult our Privacy Policy.

Information about you and your family enables us to provide specially tailored offers and health information to your needs.

* Required Fields

_____________________________
Look at that, the FREE sample is NOT free at all. If it WERE free, all they would need would be street address and zipcode. No name or ANYTHING else needed. In fact, since it IS just a coupon, it could be like any of the 'other' coupons on the Internet that are printable on your printer.

I have used that program before for coupons. It will only let you print the coupon one time, so with the Advil Free sample coupon it could be that SIMPLE. When 500,000 coupon's have been printed, it would stop letting them be printed.

They would NOT know who received any of the coupons or names or addresses. Nothing. The coupons WOULD be FREE.

They aren't now, they wish to know all that PRIVATE information about you, your family, maybe about your dog and cat too. Just a total ripoff. Not free at all.

Anytime you have to give ANYTHING to received something, then it is NOT free.

When you are walking down the street and walk up to someone and give them a dollar bill and walk off, then that WAS free. The INSTANT you ask even their name when you give it to them, it is no longer free. It is that simple. You asked them to repay YOU with something (their name in this case) before giving them the dollar.

Always a scam. Always a ripoff.

This website: http://www.totallyfreestuff.com/ I'll bet, of all the hundreds or thousands of supposed 'FREE' stuff listed on it, that there is not even ONE free item. They will ALL want at least your name or name and address/e-mail before they will send you their stuff. That is NOT free. Think about it, when it the last time YOU received something for free? I can't remember the last time I did. They always want info in exchange. NOT free at all.

Look how smart I am!

100610 0500

One of the owners of a previous place I had worked at for several years died recently.

I had to laugh at the education of people these days. Don't people have any pride in how they look when they don't even know simple grammar and spelling rules? Name changed to protect the person posting the comment. Guest book entry:

"October 05, 2010
Hi Deb very sorry to here about your dad. Lost my dad in april take care. ~ Some Guy, Salem, Oregon"

I would have thought it should read:

"October 05, 2010

Hi, Deb. Very sorry to hear about your dad, I lost mine in April. Take care. ~ Some Guy, Salem, Oregon"

I was under the impression month names were capitalized and hearing with our ears wasn't spelled here, like we were here and not there.

Time for a laugh or two...

Was on a survival site and a member posted a story about doing the laundry back in the old days. The way he posted it, it looked like he was talking about himself back then. WRONG. It was from another site ran by: Bess W. Metcalf and she has some really funny posts to read on her site.

One page is as good of a starting point as another on the site and here is the URL for it:
The Sneaky Kitchen Just the thing to have a person laughing and relaxing at the end of a trying day.

Cordless phone headset

I use a headset on my cordless phones so both my arms are free for typing on the keyboard, working in the kitchen or any other jobs. I have found the Panasonic KX-TCA60 works well and will last several years. Amazon has them with FREE shipping if it is included on an order that totals $25 or more. Seems I always can find stuff on Amazon to make the order total more than that, so, good to go. Do we understand what FREE shipping means? LOL It sells on Amazon for $7.99 each. Or, OR... I can go to Panasonic and get it with FREE shipping also... at Panasonic WITH FREE shipping.... they cost: $22.99 each.

Let's see if I am smart enough to figure that out. On Amazon, four (4) of them are $31.96 total cost... and from Panasonic four (4) of them are $91.96 total cost. That is ONLY a $60 savings buying the same item from Amazon. And I usually buy them five or more at a time, since I have one on the phone in the bedroom, one on the phone by the kitchen table, and one on the phone in the office. That is three with a spare in case I catch the cord on something and and the band gets broken when it is jerked from my head with me hollering dang it because I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing.

Now, what can I buy with that 'saved' $60? LOL

I just LOVE to save money, don't you? Sometimes it takes me a while to figure out WHERE I am going to buy something so I can get it for the most reasonable price. Do you do that too?

COPD - Is that something you or I may have?

100210 1427

Was talking to my friend the other night and he listened to me wheezing and coughing and asked me how long that had been going on. A couple weeks I told him. Actually it has been about a month now that I think of it.

Somewhere in our eighty minute talk he brought up something called COPD. I'd never heard of it. So, I looked it up in Google and found:

"COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease:

  • Chronic means long-term — people live with COPD for many years
  • Obstructive means decreased airflow in and out of the lungs
  • Pulmonary refers to your lungs — it includes all the tubes that take in air through your mouth and nose and into your lungs
  • Disease means illness"
One website about it: COPD http://www.copd.com/# I really find it hard to believe I somehow got COPD.

I am slowly getting better, I think it is a case of the dang flu or cold that I had earlier. But I will keep an eye on it. Seems like it takes a long time to get over stuff that lasted a couple days when I was younger.

So, if you cough and wheeze a lot, click on the above link and see if COPD might be what you have. All the time, something new to worry about. Let us hope neither of us have it!

Smoking cigarettes one day - and then... never again.

100210 1333

So hilarious. Was on a 'health' site about something and one of the questions was:

"Have you smoked ONE cigarette in your WHOLE life."

Are they actually so stupid to believe that smoking ONE cigarette at ANY time in your whole life would make a difference in your health? Do they know something that everyone else doesn't know?
Oh, yes, I smoked just ONE cigarette THIRTY YEARS ago, so please, put me with the other ex-smokers. Put me with the people who smoke two packs a day and have been smoking two packs a day for twenty years.
You are BOTH the same, health wise. Both have the same chance of having cancer, both have the same odds of having ______. (enter whatever you wish in the blank)

What? All at once the body can't or doesn't heal itself over a period of time? Since when? Anyone have more info on this subject I could look at?

I haven't smoked in (as of today, right now at 14:00 hours) 29 years, 6 months and 14 days to the minute. From 18 March 1981 @ 14:00 hours, a Wednesday, until today 02 October 2010 @ 14:00 hours, a Saturday, since @ 14:00 hours was the last time I smoked a cigarette and that was just a half of one at that. A Marlboro, seems I smoked those most of the twenty one (21) years that I smoked. When a person stops smoking, at least with me, I tend to remember dates and times regarding such a thing happening, don't you?

I had TRIED to quit several times, over the years, before that time. Ah, by the second or third day I would dang near take your head off if you even looked at me. I figured out why that was. The part of our brain/mind that controls what we do regarding our body seems to end up being controlled by the subconscious part of our brain/mind. When I was "trying" to quit smoking, I was trying to shove the order to quit smoking through my subconscious. That doesn't seem to work well at all.
But when I finally decided in my subconscious that I didn't desire to smoke anymore, from that instant my body never had a craving for nicotine anymore.
On that day, 29½ years ago, when I lit that last cigarette, it didn't even taste good at all. I had smoked the usual number the day before, smoking right up until I went to bed. But, the next day, when I lit that first cigarette at 14:00 hours (2pm), should have told me something would be different that day. Usually I had smoked one or two cigarettes before I ever left the house in the morning. When I mashed that first cigarette of the day out in the ash tray on the 18th, the urge to smoke wasn't there anymore.

One thing that did happen though, was the fact that I became allergic to cigarette smoke and smell. It got pretty bad over the years. Someone would come into the shop with a lot of cigarette smoke smell on their clothes and within a minute or so if they were standing to close to me, close enough that I smelled the smoke on their clothes, my eyes would get all bloodshot, my nose start running, sneezing, the whole works. I would have to let one of my employees take over talking to them, the smoke on their clothes caused me too many problems, health wise.

Strange things happen sometimes. Have I thought about smoking a cigarette, just one, again to see what it tasted like? Sure, but just as a passing thought. It was never a strong enough thought that I would actually smoke one.

And yes, I AM proud of myself for dumping that filthy, nasty habit of smoking, 29½ years ago.

SETI, UFOs, aliens and a good laugh...

092910 2157

Ah, yes. It is all in the point of view, isn't it. A good example would be:

This story happened a while ago in Dublin , and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it is indeed true.

John Bradford, a Dublin University student, was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a very dark night and in the midst of a big storm. The night was rolling on and no car went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him.

Suddenly, he saw a car slowly coming towards him and stopped. John , desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got into the car and closed the door, only to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on. The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road ahead and saw a curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life. Then, just before the car hit the curve, a hand appeared out of nowhere through the window, and turned the wheel. John , paralyzed with terror, watched as the hand came through the window, but never touched or harmed him.

Shortly thereafter, John saw the lights of a pub appear down the road. Gathering strength, he jumped out of the car and ran to the establishment. Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and started telling everybody about the horrific experience he had just had. A silence enveloped the pub when everybody realized he was crying... and wasn't drunk.

Suddenly, the door opened, and two other people walked in from the dark and stormy night. They, like John , were also soaked and out of breath. Looking around, and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said to the other, "Look, Paddy....thar be the fooking idiot that got into the car while we were pushin' it!'

I must say, I sure burst out laughing. That's the way life is, our point of view, whether it is about a "ghost" car or SETI and UFO's, changes as we go through life.

Will those 'others' ever come forward and introduce themselves to mankind? Looking/watching how STUPID and RETARDED we, mankind, is when it comes to taking care of our planet, Mother Earth... ah, maybe not, eh? Raping it, poisoning it, killing it, killing some parts of her already that will be unusable for over 10,000 years from the contamination we cause.

If YOU were one of 'those' beings, would YOU want to meet us face to face? Maybe not, eh?

Do I personally believe 'they' are 'out there' watching us? Maybe, maybe not. Is there other life? I think there would HAVE to be, with galaxy's going on forever with trillions of stars, many with planetary systems.

Life is so precious, so cool, so wonderful... and we, mankind as a whole, treats it, Mother Earth, so poorly in exchange for what she gives us in return. Will our great, great, great grandkids have anything to look forward to? Or will all of Earth be nothing but a cesspool with few or no resources left for them?

It IS up to us, each generation.

Point of view.

Well, what do you know...

"Grab a chair, pull up to the table, dish up some bacon, eggs, and grits, cup o coffee, and chew the fat. Spit on the stove and break wind, just like one of the family. Stay as long as you like."

Words on a Yahoo Group. Just a big lie. My family isn't into people lying. What is a lie? An untruth is a lie. A poster in a group I belonged to (notice past tense?) stated that Sundance Products was NOT a MLM company and it was NOT about the money.
Right on their website it does state that they ARE a MLM company and that you CAN get rich selling their product because it is so fine of a product. He stated they might call themselves an MLM company, but he doesn't call them one.

This afternoon there were 198 members in the group, this evening there are 197. I guess I am gone. LOL

What did I expect I suppose. If I weren't bedridden I wouldn't be messing around on those dumb groups. I guess dumb is just about the truth. If they hold true to form and about 85% of the population is average IQ or lower, then close to 170 of them are of average IQ or lower.

Being on several of the groups, watching how people spell and use grammar, or lack thereof, I would say the percentage is higher. Like maybe 190 of the members would fit the category.

It sure seems like an awful lot of them seem to be broke and don't have several hundred dollars in savings, let alone several thousand dollars. They all complain to each other about how poor they are. LOL

And when I tried to correct some of the info some of the members posted I became persona non grata really quick. Such is life! LOL

Not a one of them smart enough to figure out that when they say something wrong about you that they should correct themselves and apologize. Not no, but hell no.

It is entertainment though, watching them think they know something. If someone posts 35x35=1235 they WILL believe that and not even bother to calculate it and see it is really 1225 and tell the original poster that they should correct their post. Nope. NOT going to happen. Let's see a show of hands of those above 140 IQ. Ah, no hands eh? That's the way it is. Less than one person per hundred. Spread pretty thin through the population. :)

Time to take a nap I suppose. Go to a better place, even if it is in a dream. :)

Big Beautiful Women - A little taller than most women it seems.

Some people like BIG women. These appear to be a little bigger than the average woman. Life must not be much fun most of the time being that big/tall.

In the last photo, the brunette in the back, second from the right, is pretty cute!
Nice smile.

Zogby Surveys -

Just filled in another Zogby survey. Been doing those for a few years. Link: Zogby Have you ever taken one of their surveys? It is free to join and do. Ask you questions about current events and how YOU are doing in the world today. If you are a business owner, this one I just finished was about how business was/is. They never use your name, so no worries there. Then they publish charts and you can see where YOU fit in with the rest of the people taking that survey.

If you have a few extra (extra, haha, as if anyone does) minutes, you might click on the above link and peruse a little of how others think the US is doing.

New blog I am reading -

Well, I guess I should put something on my blog once in a while. I am on a homesteading group or two on Yahoo Groups and clicked on a link where a couple got tired of the crap in the US and moved to Costa Rica. Interesting reading. You might want to go read some of her blog. Link: Ginnee's blog

The dog had puppies in May 2010 and in the photo it appears one of the puppies is going to rip the tire off the rig.

That is probably what I should do. Sell my junk here and move to somewhere like Costa Rica. Get rid of a bunch of fat and start living life again.

I do, I really do...

need to do a new post once in a while. There is so much to talk about, things I see here or there. Some funny, some sad. A lot that is just plain stupid. Maybe later this week I will try to do a post. That is a pretty different idea.
